The Journey

He's here!!!!

We are both feeling blessed and in awe tonight as we reflect on the events of the past twenty four hours. Mesha has had a very difficult pregnancy ranging from hyper emisis (puking a lot), to severe kidney infection, to pre-term labor! So, when she went off the medicine that was supposedly keeping her from going into labor at 36 weeks we assumed we would have a baby. Well, that did not happen and after a few hard weeks of extremely painful muscle spasms and intermitent sleepless nights, Mesha was ready to be done. On Monday of this week our doctor set us up for an induction for next Monday the 28th, but as you probably already know or have guessed, we didn't make it to Monday. Last night, while hanging out with some friends, Mesha's water broke and we were off to the races...or I guess just the hospital. We were both in utter shock, so if it weren't for Bob and Juamil Lezer staying calm and helping us get out the door, I am not sure what we would have done. We braved the snowy conditions and made it slowly to the hospital. This morning at 10:47, Makai Colin Torkelson was born...a Christmas baby! We would never have guessed that this would happen and are in complete amazement as we stare at our beautiful little boy! Thank you Jesus for coming so long ago and thank you Jesus for the blessing of Makai on the day that we celebrate your birth!
