Zaila Jane Torkelson is here

Mesha delivered a healthy baby girl at 6:18pm tonight. She is 7 pounds 8 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. Her head circumference is 13 1/2 (inches or cm???? I think inches???) Anyway, she is amazing and (though, I know I am biased) she is the most beautiful baby girl I have seen. She has some blond and red hair. She was wide awake until like 10:45pm. Now she is sleeping peacefully in her mother's arms.

I don't think words have ever failed me before in my life. I am a talker and a writer, but this experience is one that words cannot express. The beauty and amazement of having a child is indescribable. I love someone I just met four hours ago more than I can tell you. I would die for her in an instant and I just met her. Amazing stuff. I'll keep posting. Thanks for all the prayers.

By the way, I'll try to post some pics tomorrow. I forgot the card reader. (Got everything together last week, but I forgot that. Duh)

    Oh my! Congratulations!

I LOVE her name, and can hardly wait to see pictures of the little beauty!

I went to bed last night knowing that she was here, but none of the details, and awoke this morning to go scurrying to the computer for the update.

Soooo happy for both of you, and so proud of Mesha for giving birth to this amazing new life! Please update us on how Mesha is feeling this morning.

God's blessings on all of you - the wonder of a new child is truly indescribable and awe-inspiring.

So I'm crying as I read this!!! We're so proud of both of you. As we sat at the dinner table last night, knowing the baby was here, but not knowing anything more for that 1/2 hour or so, Brad was just talking about the transformation you were undergoing right then in those first moments as a dad. You are right -- there are no words.

Last night was crazy at the Chamberlains. We ran around singing "Zaila Jane! Zaila Jane!" Drew even came down from upstairs and said they were singing "Zaila Jane" on Liam's classical music CD -- and then proceeded to do a perfect operatic interpretation of her name -- ZAAAA---LAAAAAAH JAAAAANE! Clearly, we are very excited to meet her! We're not really sure how we're going to make it until Saturday -- but some pics sure would help!!!!

Hope you got some rest last night. We love all three of you so much!

I am so excited for you!! YAY!!!

I can't explain what a blessing these little ones are--and they bless us more and more each day!

I'm so happy that you are going to truly feel God's presence through this little one. I once read in a book: "Babies are a little piece of God we get to hold and love and hug." It's VERY true!

    Enjoy her!!!

Let us know when you would like us to visit!!

    Love,
    Sarah (&Phil, he's on my lap) :)
